Following on from last year’s successful bike ride where Sarum Vision raised over £4000 for Salisbury Food Bank, we are set to get back on the saddle to raise money for Alabaré (Wiltshire) and Libya Floods Appeal (International Rescue Committee) this year with another fundraising challenge.
The Sarum Vision team of cyclists will be riding a challenging route of 150 miles through Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.
We are keen to support the prevention of homelessness in our local community through Alabaré. As a charity Alabaré has been supporting homeless, vulnerable and marginalised people for 30 years. They help transform their lives by providing accommodation and support to help them build skills, confidence and opportunities to live a fulfilled life.
Following the recent flooding in Libya it is estimated that the death toll could reach 20,000. Entire neighbourhoods disappeared into the sea as a huge tsunami-like torrent of water swept the port city in eastern Libya. Two dams south of Derna collapsed under the pressure brought on by Mediterranean Storm Daniel. These collapses led to flooding that swept through Derna, which is home to 90,000 people. Survivors described the situation as "beyond catastrophic". It is heartbreaking to witness the devastation. Our fundraiser for International Rescue Committee will help affected communities recover and rebuild from this catastrophe.
The donations will be split 50/50.
