Wheelchair Van - Home Needed - Eric is a Survivor
Donation protected
On behalf of Eric Tyson, his family is raising $250,000 to purchase Eric a wheelchair-accessible van and a down payment for an accessible home. Eric was a thriving truck driver and a father of 3-year-old twins until February 9, 2020, when he became a survivor of gun violence. He was shot twice injuring his spinal cord. His world changed forever. Eric fought through five surgeries during a pandemic. He fought for his life out of intensive care, progressed off the ventilator, and completed acute rehabilitation.
Eric is home surrounded by loved ones, taking care of his children, and continuing to heal. Two years later, he’s ready to venture back into the world. There are a plethora of obstacles in his life, and transportation and accessible housing are included. As a quadriplegic, he has ongoing care that requires visits back and forth to the hospital. As a father with growing twins, he needs to get them back and forth to school, extracurricular activities, and services. So, we are asking the community to help Eric continue to thrive. He is driven more than ever to maintain a strong presence for his twins. The accessible housing will increase his quality of life and support independence with voice command adaptability and unobstructed pathways built throughout the home.
It is extremely difficult to convey the overall stress and trauma associated with not being able to move your limbs. However, we are standing on faith and belief that God is in control. Eric has achieved many milestones with plenty to come. He dreams of the day when the movement in his arms and hands will return. Eric is the first high-level spinal cord Metrohealth Medical Center patient to receive a nerve transplant. There are signs that the implanted nerves will regenerate and upper limb movement will happen in the future. Eric is making medical history!
We have faith that this campaign will allow us to successfully raise the $250,000 needed to purchase a new wheelchair-accessible van that can accommodate Eric and his twins in the New Year. We also have the audacity to believe that your support and prayers will eventually contribute to Eric returning to a physically able body, mentally sound mind, and the ability to be self-sufficient.
Please join us in raising $250,000 for an accessible van and a down payment for a customized house. There is no donation too small. Please donate at http://gofundme.com/f/wheelchair-van-needed-eric-is-a-survivor.
Thank you for your donation, kind thoughts, and prayers.
Peace & Blessings,
