Lilyana
Lilyana is a incredible 8 year old girl that has inspired so many people and has touched so many hearts in her 8 years of being on this earth. She lights up a room with her big beautiful smile and always puts everyone else's feeling before hers even though she's the one with the disability. She loves playing with her friends, going on adventures, most of all she loves being independently mobile.Lilyana Faith was born at 28 weeks and weighed 3lbs. 16oz she spent 31 days in the NICU during her time at the NICU was diagnosed with Periventricular leukomalacia (a type of brain injury during birth which causes death of small areas of the brain tissue around fluid-filled areas called venticles that causes "holes" in the brain." We had countless doctor appointments as any preemie would have and over time we realized Lilyana wasn't making any milestones (crawing, walking, no use of left hand etc) we were referred to a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Center and we got the news that due to her brain injury she had developed Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy when she was just little over a year old. Our hearts broke for her but we put our brave faces on and did everything we could to get her to reach her milestones and we still do to this day. Lilyana has been doing Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech therapy for over 7 years now she works hard every day. When Lilyana was 3 she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia her hip had dislocated and she had to have a left hip subluxation surgery to repair it. Over the span of five years from (2015-2019) Lilyana would continue to have surgeries to remove hardware, fix a deformed femur, fix another hip dislocation, remove hardware etc. She has had a hard life in just a short time of living but she continues to do it with a smile on her face and so much drive and determination. Lilyana is currently wheelchair bound and has very limited use of her legs she does use a walker but not very well and can only use it for 20-30 mins at a time.
Why am I telling you all this well Lilyana loves being in her electric wheelchair it gives her a feeling of independence she can go for walks, play with her sister outside in the yard driving around but when we take outings, go to doctor appointments etc. due to transportation reasons we are unable to take her electric wheelchair and the one thing that gives her independence is taken away. We currently found a handicap wheelchair van that will allow Lilyana to drive her wheelchair up into it and she will be able to sit right in the van securely strapped in. We our asking for your help in purchasing this vehicle so she can have her independence every where she goes. Making this purchase for her would give her so much more she would be able to go to friends house and play outside with them, go to doctor appointments, go to a store, go to a park go anywhere with out having me pushing her in her manual chair.
Want to say thank you for your time and for your donation!
