Wheelchair Van & Lift for Alex

Donation protected

If you have ever had the privilege of meeting Alex, then I am sure it left a lasting impression! (I am also certain that if you have ever seen a 4'10 lady throw a grown man over her shoulder and carry him...it also left an impression. side note: my mom is superwoman) Back to meeting Alex though... it probably started with excitement, followed by the biggest (tightest) hug/squeeze you have ever experienced and ended with a laugh and smile...and I am sure that you walked away with a sense of happiness and love that only Alex can provide. {If you want to know more about my brother's story- my daddy wrote this awhile back https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=231861680939489&id=231857550939902} I am also certain that if you have been around Alex much, he has told you about his "blue truck truck." This is how he refers to the big blue van with the wheelchair lift that my mom drives. He loves that van so much  and is quick to let you know that it is HIS. (also, don't call it a van in front of him...it's his truck) However, his "truck" is beyond unsafe now. The brakes are going out, it breaks down more consistently than it runs, and the wires to his wheelchair lift are cut and exposed-meaning you have to hold them just the right way for it to even work.
But right now, it is all my family has to transport him. It scares me to death knowing that he and my mom are going anywhere. I rode with her from Bowdon to Tallapoosa the other day and we broke down in the middle of the road three times.... I worry about their safety so much. But it also breaks my heart for them. Again, those of you that know Alex know that he is an on-the-go people person. Due to the condition of the van, he is extremely limited on his outings now. If it isn't necessary, they don't go anywhere and risk it.
In short, my brother needs a new van with wheelchair lift. As you can imagine though....money is not just free flowing. My mom and brother truly deserve the world and right now I can't even buy them a name brand Poptart and I would love nothing more than to just do this for them. However, financially none of us can right now and as you know-cars are expensive....and as you can imagine so are handicap lifts. Therefore, this is literally the only thing I can think of to help them. I know how much my mom and brother have touched the community through their compassion and love, so I am asking the community to return that compassion and love and help them get the safe transportation they need. Please please please! His birthday is in August and hers in September and I can not thank of anything greater I could do for either of them!
To say that these two are some of my greatest blessings would be a huge understatement. I can only pray to have a portion of the love, compassion, determination, and fight they have!
