Wheelchair Repair Fund

My name is Jay Justice. I'm a writer, costumer, cosplayer, actress and activist. I believe in the power of positivity, in speaking up and fighting against injustice. 

I have been permanently disabled for 16 years. I suffer from a debilitating autoimmune disease that makes walking and standing for long periods of time very difficult. My entire body is affected by the disease. Fatigue and severe chronic pain are something I experience regularly.  Despite this, I lead a full, active life. I work very hard, both for myself and my community.  
In order to support myself, I heavily rely on my mobility device. I work every day and travel across country frequently. I use an ultra light (>30lbs) TravelScoot mobility scooter that is designed to fold for maximum ease of travel. This device has changed my life for the better in so many ways. 

Recently it became damaged beyond repair. I am unable to work or travel beyond my home with a mobility aid. I have spent all I can on a temporary replacement, but it's far too heavy for me to manage alone. I am unable to find affordable wheelchair accessible housing, so I am forced to drag both my body and the device upstairs daily. This has caused me increased pain, damage and stress.

The repairs for my own device are costly, but I desperately need it in order to support myself. I am selling what I can on etsy to raise the funds to fix it, because the sooner I can get back to normal, the safer, happier & healthier I will be. But I can't do it alone. Having my mobility scooter enables me to work, and my goal is to increase my income so that I can afford wheelchair accessible housing at last. No more stairs!!!
