Hello and thank you for taking the time to hear about my story and considering a generous donation.
On January 20 of this year, I fell down the stairs at my home. After a couple of days in the hospital and an MRI, I found out that I had a complete rupture of my quadriceps tendon in my left leg. This is the tendon that attaches your upper leg to your kneecap and allows you to flex your knee, which allows you to do things like walk and climb stairs. After two months of physical therapy in a rehab center, I’m finally home but unfortunately, I am now homebound because I am still not able to climb stairs or walk. I greatly need a wheelchair ramp to allow me access in and out of our house in a safe manner.
Having a wheelchair ramp will allow me to get back to work and start earning money again. As you know, Tomas and I run a store downtown. The store is still new, just 2 1/2 years old, and unfortunately, while the store pays for itself, it does not provide much of an income for our family.
While investigating wheelchair ramp companies, most of them charge anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 for a wheelchair ramp.
There is an option to wait for an income-based builder here in the area, but unfortunately, they have a waitlist that is about a year long.
I was able to secure a builder who has generously donated their time and skills to come up from Florida and build it for me for just the cost of their travel and the lumber.
Your donation would go a long way in allowing me the freedom and safety to be able to leave my house as needed and get back to work and start making an income for our family again!
Thank you so much for your continued generous donations and time. Please know that our family appreciates everything everybody has done for us over the challenging past few months. We could not have made this journey without your help and support.
