Wheelchair Ramp for Wounded Officer
Donation protected
On the evening of October 12, 1997 Officer Patricia Cocciolone and her partner John Sowa responded to a domestic violence call. Before they were able to make contact they were ambushed and both shot 6 times. Officer Sowa's wounds were mortal. Officer Cocciolone survived by what has been described as a miracle. She was shot in the head, torso, arm and hip with an AR-15. She is not able to climb stairs and uses a motorized wheelchair.
They recently bought a new house that does not have wheelchair access. One of the medics that assisted her that night offered to build her a ramp. Many local officers have volunteered to assist also. Officer Cocciolone has offered to pay, but we think that it would be great to be able to build this ramp for her free of charge. She has given so much to help others and we would love to help her out now. No donation is too small. All money will be used to make her new home wheelchair accessible.
