Wheelchair Power Attachment to help me gain my independence

Hello, my name is Millie, I’m 17 and have complex medical conditions, which include Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS). These conditions cause me to struggle walking short distances and I require a wheelchair for my mobility.

My PoTS causes me to be unable to regulate my heart rate and blood pressure, which can lead to dizziness and blackout spells. Unfortunately, because of my other conditions (EDS & CFS/ME) I struggle with joint pain and fatigue and this makes using my self-propelled wheelchair unaided very difficult.

I will soon be getting a medical alert assistance dog to detect my PoTS episodes. This will allow me my independence, so I don’t have to rely on my friends and family to keep me safe.

Due to me needing someone to push my wheelchair, I hoping to raise funds of £3,650 for a ‘Triride Foldable Light Wheelchair Power Attachment’, which will convert my wheelchair into a power-assisted chair, so I can drive it myself.

I hope these new additions to my life can help me gain independence for the very first time.

If I am fortunate enough to exceed my goal any additional funds will be donated to the Medical Detection Dogs charity. To help improve other people’s lives, as they have done for me.

Thank you so much for any contributions, every donation will make a huge difference!

Millie Culpitt-Smith Xx
