Wheels for DV
On behalf of DV Gulley, his family and friends are seeking monetary donations to fund a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
This is needed to assist DV to get on track with his life, assist with his independence, improve his mental health and open him up to new adventures. Over the last year DV has overcome physical and emotional challenges that he never imagined, his family (Shannan, Akyrah, Amori, Camry, Nana, Shealyn and Middy) and close friends provide all his care at home. Although they have faced many financial and emotional challenges DV's family support has been inspiring and they continue to want to provide him with hope so that he may continue in his recovery.
On July 14th, 2019, DV sustained a C-6 spinal cord injury that resulted in paralysis from his lower chest down with limited hand mobility after a swimming pool accident. DV spent 10 days in the surgical intensive care unit, 28 days of inpatient therapy and most recently 3 months rehab at the Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville, which was unfortunately prematurely discontinued due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At 19 years old this 6'2 healthy young man's life was forever changed. Prior to the accident DV attended Thomas
More College, participated on the baseball team his freshman year. DV loves playing and watching sports, playing video games and hanging out with his family. One of the things that he misses most is his ability to visit his younger cousins and his grandfather or being able to "take a drive or just go visiting" when the urge arises. Assisting DV with getting his own wheelchair accessible vehicle would allow him this simple luxury that many of us take for granted.
We appreciate donations of any amount, and ask that you keep DV in your prayers. Please share widely with friends and family!
