Wheathampstead Cricket Club Equipment Fund

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Zeeshan Sialvi (1st team captain), and I would like your help raising £10,000 for Wheathampstead Cricket Club (WCC).

WCC is located north of St Albans; it is maintained, run and supported by the club members and our wonderful locals. It is a community-inspired village cricket club with very strong junior and adult sections. WCC offers four competitive Saturday teams playing in the Herts Cricket League, a Sunday team playing in the National Village cup and various friendly teams. We have boys' teams from under 9 to under 15 competing in the Herts Junior League and have started the process of developing a girls' team. Currently, we have 197 registered colts at the club. Our club mission is to inspire and instil in our colts a love of cricket from an early age by providing a fun and safe coaching environment.

2022 was a very successful season for both the adults and the colts. Our 3rd team finished second in the league and has been promoted. Our development team lifted the inaugural Kings Langley CC T20 cup, and three of our colts teams (U10, U11 and U13) were crowned Herts County Champions. A feat that hasn’t been achieved in the history of the competition.

Furthermore, we have been working hard to develop our girls’ cricket. Throughout the season, dedicated coaches have run structured sessions to develop the girls’ skills and passion for the game. As we move forward, we hope to attract even more girls to join the club and enter teams into the girls’ Herts Junior League.

We clearly have the talent; for years, our ground maintenance team has worked hard to produce the best possible playing facilities for our members. However, the machinery they use is holding us back. As a club, we now feel it’s the right time to raise funds to enable us to purchase essential equipment that will allow our groundsmen further to enhance the quality of our square and ground. We are looking to raise £10,000 to buy the following:

• A new heavy roller for the wicket
• A specialist mower to cut our square
• Wicket repair tools
• A flat sheet cover for the wicket and bowlers run up.

We will also seek support and apply for a grant from the ECB. If we successfully achieve this goal, it will bring many benefits to our members and allow our maintenance team to produce a better-quality playing surface for practice and matches. Thereby further supporting the progression of our young and adult players.

We are appealing to the local community to help with whatever they can by contributing to this Go Fund Me page. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Zeeshan
