Running for Oakley Infant School

Some of you may think I’m crazy (and maybe I am) but I have signed up to do the London Virtual Marathon on Sunday 3rd October 2021, god help me!
But why? I hear you ask!
During this latest lockdown I felt I needed a focus and in January I got out running again and much to my surprise found a genuine enjoyment for it. 6 weeks in and a few glasses of wine later I stumbled across a plea from a lovely lady in my village for a running partner to do the London Virtual Marathon with her and I thought why not and signed up immediately before I sobered up! I’m now 6 weeks into training and feeling in great shape but under no illusions of the challenges ahead, eek!
I have chosen to raise money for “Friends” who are a fundraising team made up of volunteers who raise money for Oakley Infant School. As a parent of a child at the school I’d like to do my part to invest in my children’s future and give something back to a community that has worked tirelessly to create activities, events and experiences that have been instrumental in getting the children of our village through this last 12 months as well as raising valuable funds to make improvements to their learning environment.
