10 Mile run for StreetWise

Two years ago, at this time of year (June, 2014),  I was training for the NYC marathon.  I had committed to raise $10,000 for a fantastic non-profit: StreetWise Partners .   Training was going well but I felt a kind of  minor wheezing / chest cold.  I went to see lots of doctors to see if I had an alergy or a cold or whatever.

Turns out I had a fairly serious heart condition.  My heart had been weakened by a (still unknown) virus and I had a leaky valve and other bad stuff.  The doctors did various procedures and put me on lots of drugs.  They told me that I certainly had to stop training for the marathon and that I would likely not be able to do much exercise going forward.  The implication was that I'd struggle to even run to catch a bus.

So....that was a bummer.   I was knocked sideways for a year but then got my act together and started exercising again.  I still take pills of various colors and sizes but I'm back to playing football, tennis and running.  The doctors are very happy and have told me to exercise as much as I want.

So......

I want to keep my committment to StreetWise and raise money for them by racing in the Bronx 10 Mile Run on September 25th.

I'm asking you to donate to this worthy cause.  StreetWise does amazing things to help adults and young adults break out of the cycle of poverty and build successful careers and lives.

Every donation would also be a shot of adrenaline for me.

Thanks!!

Brian

P.S,
Don't worry. My heart condition isn't the kind where I could suddenly keel over during the race.  Worst case is I would just get too tired and have to stop.
