"What We Share"- Telling Our Story To Save Lives
Donation protected
First, my sister, then my mom, and then me. Three breast cancer diagnoses within 18 months. We are all BRCA2 positive, meaning we carry a genetic mutation that increases risks for certain cancers. Do you know your family's risks and how to be proactive and take the best care of yourselves? Often, we only learn how to do that after our health is threatened or we tragically lose a loved one.
My family was blind-sided by our cancer journey, and we didn't have a typical family history that may have alerted doctors of high risk in advance. I distinctly recall struggling to make sense of the situation and why we knew so little about these genetic mutations and hereditary cancers. I hated realizing that there have been so many families before us, and many more families after us will face the same struggles. My family has chosen to share our story with the hope of helping others understand and navigate their own situations. It's incredible how much we can help support others by simply sharing openly.
This film is a human story. It is much more than impersonal medical stats and daunting facts and figures. It is our family story, raw and real. May it help others feel better informed and never alone. After all, it's about what we share, for better or worse.
The pandemic derailed so many of our lives, plans, and, yes, our production schedule. We humbly ask you to be part of our story. Your donations will help us finish the film and make a powerful impact on educating people and saving lives! Your unwavering support and generosity through the craziest times have meant the world. Thank you for your love and encouragement. You will be the first to be invited to see the film's debut. We can't wait to share it with you!
