Hello All!
My name is Tyler Frugé . Some of you know me in production as Baggins, and occasionally refer to me as Frodo or Bilbo. I am a big LOTR/Tolkien Fanatic, so I take those titles with immense glee and pride.
But many of you also know me as a writer, and throughout this past year I’ve used lockdown as an opportunity to write as many meaningful stories near and dear to my heart. One of which is a project I’m directing this summer. It’s called WHAT WE SEE.
WHAT WE SEE is about the things we often ignore, deny, and allow to continuously linger in our lives. On a narrative level it’s a ghost story, but on a thematic level an exploration of real emotional wounds from our past that we bring with us into our present and daily lives, which speaks to where we are now on a personal and collective level.
For everyone across the world, this has truly been one of the most challenging and defining moments of our lifetime. Many of us have lost dear loved ones to this pandemic, and the easiest thing to do is try and forget, but in doing so we destine ourselves to repeat it. For as a dear teacher and friend once said to me, “None of us are allowed a present or a future, until we work through the past.”
What We See is about the importance of cultivating a safe space for confronting and acknowledging all that makes us afraid and uncomfortable, so we can learn, process, and heal from them, both for ourselves and generations after us.
But pulling off a project such as this, safely and securely, requires funding, which is why we need your help. We’re looking to raise at least $500 for PPE, craft services, and filmmaking equipment. Anyone whose ever known me, from Louisiana, Virginia, Atlanta, New Mexico, and Los Angeles, knows I have an immense passion for telling inclusive and diverse stories. I can’t promise a return on this project, but what I can offer is an opportunity at bringing us together on an emotional, psychological, and spiritual level, especially after a year full of fear, uncertainty, and isolation.
No donation is too small. Please give what you can. Thank you very much!
