Hello!
I hope you’re doing well.
My name is Sanmi Oguntunde, and I am an actor and writer currently producing a short film titled What We Do.
This project is inspired by Afro-Caribbean dance culture in the UK and films like Step Up. Our ultimate goal is to create a feature-length film, but first, we’re producing this short as a proof of concept to attract funding and bring the larger vision to life.
Your support would mean the world in helping us make this happen. Donations will go toward renting a location, securing permits, covering catering, costumes, props, transportation, and equipment. We plan to submit the film to festivals once completed and aim to start production as soon as possible. Any contributions before then will give us the necessary time to organise our budget and logistics.
Logline:
A talented but conflicted young dancer battles with the idea of his place in the world, questioning the purpose of his art.
Synopsis:
Seun, a young dancer caught between ambition and obligation, reunites with his London crew feeling lost. With his family relying on him financially, dance starts to feel like a selfish dream rather than a calling. As he reconnects with his friends—each with their own struggles—he’s reminded that dance isn’t just about success; it’s about expression, connection, and purpose. When the music starts, Seun must decide: will he step forward or let doubt hold him back?
To show our appreciation, we’ll be hosting events and offering exclusives including:
Social Media Shoutout
Special Thanks credit in the final film
Invitation to a private screening and Q&A before the public release
Every contribution, big or small, is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this with your network would mean just as much.
Thank you so much for your support!
Best,
Sanmi Oguntunde
