What Remains: Documentary on Public Lands

Donation protected
What Remains is a documentary exploring the aftermath of the sweeping layoffs of thousands of U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Department of Agriculture positions on February 14th, 2025. This film traces the ripple effects of federal disengagement from America’s public lands, focusing on the lived experiences of former National Park Service members, Fisheries and Wildlife Service staff, retirees from the Coalition to Protect America's National Parks, and advocates from organizations like the NPCA and Sierra Club. Through their stories, the documentary reveals how policy decisions reshape both landscapes and the lives tied to them, highlighting the tension between political divides and grassroots resilience.

We want our audience to listen to those who live closest to the land, who have protected it, and who are being impacted now. Our team is made up of filmmakers and environmental advocates who believe storytelling can shift not just perspectives, but priorities. What Remains is the intersection of our shared passions, born out of a deep respect for the natural world and a drive to use film as a tool for awareness, reflection, and change. We are currently in pre-production, moving into production at the end of September, and we need support for travel, accommodation, and equipment to bring these stories to life. Supporters will be kept updated through our website and Instagram, where we’ll share behind-the-scenes updates and progress as the documentary unfolds.
