"What Matters Most" - RAA's Community Fundraiser

Donation protected
In remote communities across Far North Queensland, animal welfare has reached a crisis point. Preventable diseases like parvovirus are claiming countless lives and causing immense suffering - one Animal Management Officer buried ten puppies in a single day last week.

We asked our RAA Community to help us prioritise a bunch of urgent initiatives currently competing for our resources.

This is what they said:

1 - Parvo vaccines to Aurukun - $2,000 (already funded!)
2 - Prevention visit to Aurukun - $4,540
3 - Prevention visit to Hope Vale - $3,610
4 - Follow-up prevention visit to Pormpuraaw - $4,540

More info on each initiative below!

As we meet these fundraising milestones, the projects will be unlocked....
Milestone 1 - $2,000 raised = Parvo vaccines for Aurukun (already funded)
Milestone 2 - $6,540 raised = Aurukun Prevention visit
Milestone 3 - $10,150 raised = Hope Vale Prevention Visit
Milestone 4 - $14,690 raised = Follow-up Prevention Visit to Pormpuraaw

Can we hit all 4 milestones to deliver all these incredibly important initiatives?

How You Can Help

If one of these goals speaks to you, please contribute today and help unlock the next milestone. Together, we can fund real, lasting impact for animals from remote communities.

Here's more info about each initiative...

1 - Parvo Vaccines to Aurukun - $2,000 (already funded!)
Already funded! Thanks to a generous supporter, we'll be providing $2,000 worth of parvo vaccinations for Aurukun's Animal Management Officer to administer (under vet supervision), protecting puppies from this deadly, preventable virus.

2 - Prevention visit to Aurukun - $4,540
Our community confirmed that a 'Prevention Visit' to Aurukun is the #1 priority. This visit would involve:
- Flying two people into community for two days (one night)
- Running a BBQ and One Health workshop to promote desexing, worming and other pet care practices
- Possible school visit
- House visits/flyer drops to ensure everyone knows the vet's in town
- Offering free collars (and hopefully some dog food!) for every dog that gets desexed
- Offering a prize with entries only given to those who desex their dogs
- Assisting with logistics during the desexing drive, if required (usually AMOs have this under control)
- If not covered by the vet visit - we would also aim to offer parvo vaccinations for puppies and worming tablets community-wide (pending funding)
- Possibly assisting with rescue and rehoming, pending additional funding and community need
(This visit will be confirmed once local partners are ready - we’re sharing the plan transparently as it develops.)

3 - Prevention visit to Hope Vale - $3,610
This visit would involve:
- Two people driving into community for two days (one night)

4 - Follow-up prevention visit to Pormpuraaw in May - $4,540
This follow-up visit ensures the progress made earlier in the year isn’t lost. Our goal is to keep up vaccinations and worming while helping locals take the lead - so that, in future, supplies can be sent directly without our team needing to travel.

If one of these initiatives speaks to you - please reach out to discuss funding that specific initiative. We'd love to hear from you.
