To friends and family of New London Wrestling, as well as fans of wrestling in general,
The end of the season is here and we're still doing our thing in the pool. We're still battling against the odds to build an NL wrestling family and program... and it's crucial to note that our success has depended heavily on the generosity of people in this community. Last year, so many of you made it possible for every kid on the team to have a uniform for meets. As you can see below, we were happy to finally match.
We've had some great changes this year. For one, Coach Zeth Nolda came on board to help me, Coach Robledo, and O'brien, and it's been a blast. Also, we've got a larger JV squad than ever, and their refusal to quit has truly impressed us. On top of that, we have more kids than last year who can qualify for the State Open and New England tournaments.
While these things are exactly what we want, they create new needs and we are asking for your help. Our primary concerns are a) funds to cover the cost of bringing more kids to 2-day tournaments (hotel, gas, food for kids who come with little money) and b) funds for a banquet to recognize their hard work.
In the past, the coaches have handled these expenses out of pocket. But with a bigger team than ever, and with our coaching staff now splitting two paychecks 4-ways, this would truly make an impact.
Help us keep the tradition alive and grow it more. We just want to continue to giving kids in NL another outlet for their energy and talent; one that shows them how they can get better at something with practice and hard work, teaches them the value in being committed to a team, and most, importantly, offers them another set of family members and role models.
Sincerely,
Mike Gorton
