Aria was taken to the ER on December 12 and diagnosed with Escherichia coli 0157:H7 (E.coli) shortly after. She stayed in the hospital a few days, but got readmitted again on Dec. 18 due to bad results with blood work. She now has been diagnosed with HUS (Hemolytic-uremic syndrome) which is a disease that is characterized by anemia, kidney failure, and a low platelet count. Treatment consists of possible blood transfusions, flushing the kidneys, and possible dialysis.
She has now been moved to the Special Care Unit at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Becky will be staying with her, but Michael will be traveling to and from home in order to keep their other children, Mason and Kaitlyn, in Gardendale and also to his job . Doctors believe that they could be at the hospital for weeks, so it means spending their Christmas there.
As we all know, medical expenses can cost a family their life savings and this is the last thing we need Michael and Becky to worry about.
Please consider donating, any amouny big or small, to help with medical expenses and food while in the hospital for the whole family.
Also, we ask that you please keep Aria in your prayers. We hope that her little body can fight off this disease as quickly and efficiently as possible. Becky and Michael also need our prayers to stay strong and courageous for Aria, Mason, and Kaitlyn during this whole process.
