Hui Hui's Transport & Surgery Costs
Hui Hui’s leg was believed to be injured when being jammed into a cage while being taken to slaughter for the Chinese dog meat industry. Please donate or share and help spread the word of our campaign to raise the funds to cover Hui Hui’s transportation costs to the US and medical costs to properly rehabilitate her leg.
In China, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand, countless dogs and cats are sold for meat each year. It is estimated that 10,000 dogs alone are killed during China’s annual Yulin dog meat festival in June and that millions of dogs are butchered each year in South Korea as well as in Vietnam. Many of the dogs and cats are pets that are stolen from their owners. Numerous amounts are badly injured from the terrible conditions and treatment during transport to slaughter and many meet horrific deaths as in some of these countries it is believed that the worse the animal is tortured during slaughter, the more the meat’s flavor is enhanced, the better the luck as well as other flawed beliefs.
Hui Hui, which means Gray Gray in Chinese, was enroute to be slaughtered before she was saved literally last minute by activists who are trying to end the dog and cat meat trade in that country.
Greyhounds are extremely rarely seen on the trucks transporting dogs to slaughter so we knew we had to try to help Hui Hui get her leg fixed and get adopted after we saw pictures of her from a Mudanjian rescue where she and over 100 other dogs were saved.
Being an older dog with an injury, Hui Hui is very unlikely to get adopted in China. Additionally, it's better to have major surgery for her leg performed in the US as the fatality rate from surgery in China is very high. Help us raise the funds to get Hui Hui to the states so she can get proper medical treatment for her leg and find a loving home. Donations raised will go directly to 4 Greyhound Racers to help with Hui Hui’s costs and are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
4 Greyhound Racers (4GR) is working with Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project and Hui Hui’s shelter (Tangshan City Small Animal Protection Association) to get her transported to Chicago. From there she will have her leg further evaluated and hopefully rehabilitated and then she will be homed through 4 Greyhound Racers’ adoption program.
Any funds raised above the goal will be split between our rescue, Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project and The Tangshan City Small Animal Protection Association. 4 Greyhound Racers and Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project are both registered as 501(c)(3) not for profit organizations in the US.
