Mobility Service Dog for Parkinsons
Donation protected
More about me: My name is Jamie. I was born in January 2000. I had some developmental issues growing up, mostly with speech. In 2011, I started having symptoms like tremors & had to quit basketball, dance & Girl Scouts. I saw a lot of doctors & went through a lot of tests including the most comprehensive genetic testing available. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Parkinsonism with Dystonia & Dyskinesia in 2012. My disease is rare & progessed rapidly. Thanks to my wonderful medical team at UC San Francisco Neurology & Deep Brain Stimulation surgery, I'm pretty stable now. Also, I was the 1st DBS surgery performed at the new, state-of-the-art UCSF facility! I did Home & Hospice education through my school for half of 8th grade and most of Freshman year. I miss my friends & school very much & I'm excited to start Sophomore year, even if it's only for 2 classes! My family & friends say I'm sweet, kind, & loving. Despite all my obstacles, I always have a smile on my face :)
I have raised small pets & have had dogs in my home. I am a responsible owner & can't wait to have a 4-legged assistant & friend! Due to my age and needs, I don't qualify for many mobility service dog programs. Waiting lists for programs I might qualify for could be several yrs. Your donations will help get the right dog for me, initial things my dog will need, & maybe start a savings for future vet costs. I appreciate it more than I can ever say.
Nice to meet you,
Jamie
