Our sweet girl Sadie has been suddenly thrown into the fight of her life.
Over the past week, Sadie went from a happy, healthy, goofy part of our family to losing mobility in her back legs and declining rapidly. After emergency vet visits, extensive testing, an MRI, a spinal tap, and bloodwork, we finally have answers — but it’s the diagnosis no pet parent ever wants to hear.
Sadie has MUO meningitis (Meningoencephalitis of Unknown Origin) — a rare and serious autoimmune disease where her immune system attacks her own brain and spinal cord. It can come out of nowhere and progress terrifyingly fast, which is exactly what happened to our baby.
The only chance Sadie has is aggressive, long-term treatment, including:
• Chemo-based immune infusions
• High-dose steroids
• Regular bloodwork
• Months of monitoring, medication adjustments, and neurologist visits
Her neurologist has prepared us for an 8–12 month battle, and it will be a long road. But MUO can go into remission with the right treatment — and Sadie deserves every chance to fight for her life.
Unfortunately, we learned the hard way that emergency illnesses can hit at any time. We regretfully do not have pet insurance, and the costs of her life-saving treatment are overwhelming.
What We’re Facing Financially
• Chemo infusion medication: $800 per month
• Follow-up bloodwork and monitoring: $400 per month
• Plus the cost of emergency care, hospitalization, MRI, spinal tap, and ongoing neurologist visits
We are doing everything we can — pulling money from wherever we can find it, using savings, and cutting what we can — but this is far beyond what we can manage alone.
Sadie is only a baby, and she means everything to our family. She’s the kind of dog who loves with her whole heart, and we refuse to give up on her.
If you are able to help us give her a fighting chance, we would be forever grateful.
Every donation, every share, and every bit of support means the world to us.
Thank you for helping us fight for our girl.
