This is my sister Autumn. Most of you know she has Cystic Fibrosis. She was diagnosed with this life
threatening disease at the age of 4 months. It is a horrible disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, liver
and intestines. Medication is needed daily to stay alive. She has been in the hospital more times than
most of us will be in our lives. She might need a lung transplant at some point. Average life expectancy is 35 years old. She is now 40 and starting to realize she’s going to need help.

You would never know she has CF because she has been a fighter all her life. She has been able to work and take care of herself all these years... And she doesn’t want that to stop. Unfortunately, the last few years she’s had to be hospitalized more and more. Right now she is fighting pneumonia while continuing to go to her
job every day. She is out of sick leave and has used all of her vacation time. She wants to continue to work so she can afford to stay living in her apartment. Just today she had a bad reaction to the heavy duty antibiotic she started and is in the hospital again. It has been heartbreaking to see her have to go to work and struggle through her fever and weakness every day just so she can keep her job and apartment.

Even when Autumn is well she has to be on medication daily and she does breathing treatments for about
3 hours every day. Some of this is not covered by insurance and her medical and hospital bills are mounting. Without any vacation time or sick leave left at work her financial struggles are seriously escalating.

I admire her strength and determination to live as normal of a life as she can. She has a heart of gold
and has always been there for her family and friends. Her dog Xander loves her to pieces and wants
her home to play ball. Let’s be there for her!
