Miles for Matt

Hi, I'm raising money for my daughter and son in law Elizabeth and Matthew Grzesik. I originally started a campaign with the same name back in 2019 to help ease some of their financial burdens while Matt was awaiting a diagnosis. Because I wanted to keep the original name, the original goal we met stayed on the campaign and we are back to starting at $0.

For those of you that don't already know, Matt was a healthy, active, Certified Physical Trainer. Then, out of nowhere, he got weak in his right leg. After a lot of tests and a lot of waiting, he was formally diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gherig's Disease. This fundraising campaign is now about helping them purchase a vehicle that they will adapt to transport a wheelchair. He doesn't need one yet but unfortunately, one day he will.

I called the first campaign Miles for Matt because he helped me to get strong enough to be able to run. With his continued training advice and support, I've become a runner. Currently I'm training for the Kansas City Marathon in October to honor both him and Elizabeth. When I run, my miles are still for Matt, actually they are for both him and Elizabeth.

When I look at the profile picture it breaks my heart to know that he will never again be able to lift her physically up in his arms. But I do know that every day he lifts her up with his love, in all that she does and she does the same for him. Their love and support of one another is an inspiration to me. They help propel me. Their strength and positivity, despite his diagnosis, is truly awe inspiring. 

It is with a heavy heart that I ask for your help. The support and love from everyone is amazing and so very much appreciated. All donations will go directly to Elizabeth and Matt. Thank you ❤️
