As most of you know, Ryan and Rachel Burkhart have had an extremely difficult and trying year. They both are dealing with extensive medical issues and overwhelming medical debt from a knee surgery that failed last year.
Here is a quick recap of this last year:
In December 2014, Ryan had an extensive knee surgery that at that time had only been performed twice in the state of Alaska. Ryan was supposed to make a full recovery by 4 months post op. 14 months later he still has yet to recover. His current condition is now worse than he was before his surgery.
Because of Ryan's inability to return to work he lost his career with AS&G through the Teamsters Union due to being out medically for longer than a calendar year.
Ryan and Rachel are doing all that they can, fighting to stay afloat but they are three weeks late on rent, medical insurance, loan payments, etc. and it is all due again on the first.
Ryan is facing a corrective surgery this next month. We need to be praying as a community that this surgery fixes what went wrong with the last surgery. But again, Ryan will continue to be out of work, and Rachel will be working hard to keep up with the mounting debts.
My hope is to make this next season a little bit easier on them. We have personally witnessed them open their home and lives, both financially and physically to those in need time and time again.
This is where I feel we as a community need to step in for them and right now they are have much financial need.
I desire to be like the early church. Where there was no need among them, because they worked together to help one another.
And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. Acts 2:45
I know that if I sat in the same shoes they did today, I would want someone to help me too. When surgery time comes again – I will be organizing meals and small gatherings at their home to support Ryan in his recovery.
We are asking for donations to help them financially through this season. If you are able to donate – please donate here or contact me personally.
