The unthinkable happened to our fellow hotel brother. While leaving his typical 16 hour day @1:30am, Carlos was the victim of a hit and run accident while waiting in a bike lane at a red light. Below is what is left over of his bike.
By the Grace of God, Carlos survived this accident but had to spend a couple of weeks in Hospital. For many of us being in the industry and starting at the bottom working 2-3 jobs is the norm. Even with limited coverage loss of income and medical bills are piling up.
We are the Mar Monte Hotel, where Carlos works as a Housekeeping Supervisor. Our General Manager, George Unseld, started this campaign as he has been a keen supporter of Carlos' growth in our organization. His absence is severely felt, and our hearts go out to him in this time of need.
We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible support. It's often said that "every drop fills the ocean," and your contribution is a vital drop in the sea of kindness and compassion that surrounds us. We want to emphasize that every single donation, regardless of its size, makes a significant impact on our journey to overcome his financial burden and the long winding road of full recovery. Your belief in our cause fuels our determination, and your generosity lights the path forward. Your support is not just a financial transaction; it's a testament to the power of community and the human spirit. Together, we're creating a ripple effect of positive change, and your role in this effort is immeasurable. Your willingness to contribute means the world to Carlos, his family and his Mar Monte Family.
Carlos' Story:
Carlos hails from Guatemala and came to the US a couple of years ago to seek his American Dream and help his family back home. He is a devout Christian and probably the hardest working person I have come to have as a subordinate. He works two full time jobs to meet his obligations (pay back the interest and loan that helped him come to the US) as well a support himself in Santa Barbara and his family back home. He started with us (Mar Monte Hotel in Santa Barbara) as a houseman, subsequently promoted to Lead Houseman before becoming Housekeeping Supervisor. In his short-time as a supervisor, he was instrumental in driving performance benchmarks and performing the highest amount of Room Inspections. In his other job, he works as a Steward in a restaurant. There, his high intensity and hard work, led him to restructure the whole PM and overnight cleaning into one shift, bringing on and training the staff to ensure the perfect coverage 7 days a week.
