Eugenie's College Tuition!

Hi! Thank you so much for clicking on this page, it means so much to me that you have taken the time to read my story!

I am currently a senior at a college preparatory Catholic high school in Texas. Due to my father's teaching job at the school, I am blessed to be able to attend at a heavily discounted price. However, I am struggling to receive financial aid for my college of choice, University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. I have chosen this school because of the excellent science program and the close-knit gymnastics team. Although there are scholarships available, most of them are primarily based on SAT and ACT scores or for those living in the Wisconsin area. In addition, this school is unable to provide any athletic scholarships for athletes.

I have been practicing gymnastics for nearly eleven years now and I am very passionate about this sport. It has been a dream of mine to compete at the collegiate level. Throughout high school, I have trained twenty hours each week to fulfill my goals while maintaining a 3.8 grade point average. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, and I have received the Cardinal Scholars award (maintaining a grade of 90+ in each class each quarter) six times. In gymnastics, I compete at level 10 and have qualified for state and regional competitions a number of times. I have received either the Gymnast of the Year and the Coaches Award on many occasions. I have linked my YouTube channel down below if you would like to see some of my videos!

After working with the Special Olympics gymnastics team last year,  I left with so much joy that it led me to brainstorm ways to care for this group of individuals. As an aspiring dentist, I would like to merge my passions and provide dental care to individuals with special needs.  I believe that this specialty is necessary in today's society, and I would like to open a number of clinics in the future to make this type of dentistry more accessible.

I am also very passionate about health and wellness and I have been vegan for a year now. I believe that this lifestyle is the most efficient way to deter illness and injuries as well as benefit our growing planet. I often grocery shop and cook for family and friends in order to promote this diet in the best way possible, leading by example. I have also chosen to be vegan due to my family's history of cancer. My grandfather and grandmother have been diagnosed with cancer, and I want to do everything in my power to ward off this horrible illness. While there are elements of diseases out of our control, I do believe the old adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Should I be fortunate enough to attend the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, I hope to inform more individuals about the benefits of a plant-based diet and the positive effects on wellness and the planet. In addition, I plan to take full advantage of the science programs in order to prepare myself for dental school.

I am asking for $25,000 to go directly towards my freshman year tuition at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse which begins in September of 2020.

I understand not everyone is in the position to donate but please consider sharing my story.  Any help you can give would mean so much to me and help my dream become a reality! Thank you so much for your time!
