I have a once in a lifetime, life-changing opportunity to travel to Ancient Egypt: Kemet, February 11-25, 2020 with Sacred Woman's author and spiritual guide Queen Afua and 40 of my Sacred Woman SISTAS.
Returning to our ancestors is the motive of this journey.
We will tour the pyramids, temples and other sacred places to learn more about the gateways we practiced during our Rights of Passage Program while at the physical locations by which our ancestors erected them.
This journey will commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Sacred Woman’s book and will be included in the Sacred Woman's documentary to capture the essence of ancient African healing rituals performed by Queen Afua at the locations they were created thousands of years ago. Queen Afua’s unique story will be complemented by the Sacred Women she has guided over the years, and I desire to be a part of this!
I completed the Sacred Woman's Rights of Passage Program and became a Certified Initiated Sacred Woman in 2017 and became a Sacred Woman Practitioner this year.
Since 2007, Sacred Woman has been instrumental in me connecting to my purpose, my heritage and my culture. It has been one of the primary guides I have used on my healing journey and in my spiritual practice.
Sacred Woman ignited and affirmed my passion to empower other women to heal. I incorporate many elements of Sacred Woman into SISTAS -my empowerment workshops, events, products and services.
Due to the timing of this trip and taking the intentional pause to practice more self-care slowing down to re-organize my business, the honest truth is, I cannot travel to Kemet without the financial support of my community. It would be unrealistic to attempt to fund this trip on my own, and it would be arrogant not to ask for help! Asking for help for myself has always been difficult and is one of the areas I am overcoming as I type this.
I am learning to get out of my own way, becoming more comfortable asking for help. I have come to the realization (and can finally admit) I cannot continue to do things on my own. So here I am asking for your help and support.

So far I have raised $1000 of the $8,000 that I need by February 1st to cover the cost of travel and accommodations.

Shalonda and I quickly became good friends while working to help low to moderate income borrowers purchase their first home. We have had a number of long conversations discussing a holistic view and strategy on better ways to serve our mutual clients. Her insight has significantly helped me in my personal business. Shalonda is a treasure. She is Portland’s favorite auntie, cousin and best friend. She makes you feel like family and is intentional in creating a space to make everyone feel comfortable around her. Her willingness to be open and vulnerable is courageous. You can also feel her deep care over you and her work. Ms. Shalonda always has an encouraging word for me both professionally and as a my friend. I personally believe she has a calling to serve and enlighten. She gives all of herself to uplift people.
