Maggie’s Medical Fund
Donation protected
Hi friends…. As many of you know, our girl became ill and was diagnosed with a rare and extremely complex disease called Blastomycosis. Blasto lives in the soil and is often found in the lungs first before settling into other parts of the body. Unfortunately in Maggie’s case, it started in her lungs and has spread to her brain causing her to endure involuntary twitches and movements which landed her in the ER. It has also spread, mildly, to her eyes and without treatment could cause blindness.
Thankfully she was stabilized and able to come home a few days later. That said, she is not in the clear. Maggie will need to be medicated for the foreseeable future. In addition to that, she will need intermittent testing and scans to ensure further damage isn’t occurring and fungal levels are reducing. She has a very long road ahead of her with 6+ months of treatment. When I read about blasto and it’s effects - many dogs lose their fight early on and we are aware that our girl may not pull through. But Maggie is a fighter. In her short life, she has survived and endured so much trauma and been abandoned numerous times. Before she came to us, she was hit by a car which resulted in the loss of one leg. Her former family didn’t even bother to take her in. I won’t be another person who abandons her. I will continue to fight, as long as she tells me she has fight left in her.
Many of you have asked how you can help and this is honestly the best way. Maggie’s treatment is going to be long and financially cumbersome. If you are able to donate to her GoFundMe that would be incredible. Or if you prefer to donate directly to me instead - I'm happy to provide my venmo/zelle. If you can’t donate, we totally understand. Sharing would be amazing and just as helpful.
Thank you everyone, from the bottom of our hearts for your continued thoughts and prayers ❤️
