On 6/20/2024, our beloved mom, better known as Mimi to her 9 grandkids, suffered a brain bleed that quickly worsened, leading to an emergency craniotomy. During the surgery, they discovered the bleed was caused by a tumor in her motor cortex, making it impossible to remove surgically. It was soon established she has stage IV lung cancer which has metastasized to her brain. Initially, she lost function on the right side of her body. After weeks of intense inpatient rehab, she regained the ability to walk short distances with a quad cane. Unfortunately, the day after she was released, she suffered a setback and was readmitted to the ICU. Additional brain lesions were found, and she has now lost complete function on the right side of her body and struggles to communicate. While our devoted dad is doing as much as he can, we want his time focused more on spending every moment with her, not worrying about caregiving 24/7 while also maintaining his work schedule. She will soon undergo radiation for the multiple lesions in her brain, and immunotherapy for the cancer in her lungs. This fund will be used to fill in the gap of this sudden loss of income and assist with a home health aid. The spunky Mimi that keeps this chaos running has quite the battle ahead of her, and we know she'll fight this all the way to the end as we all hope and pray for a miracle.
