Hit and run victim

Our dear friend, David Coxwell, who is the artistic director of The Pelican Theatre and long-time actor, was hit by a car while riding his bike in La Paz BCS Mexico. The driver fled without checking if David, 81, was hurt.

David suffered severe injuries to his hip and arm/shoulder. Following a frantic search for his rare blood type, he finally had hip surgery and his arm was put in a cast.

His release necessitated ambulances because he had to be lifted to his third floor apartment. Nurses arrive twice daily to provide medical and nutritional services.

Given his fixed-income situation and his injuries he is unable to travel to the USA. David owes $3,000 for hospital bills. In addition, the cost of visiting nurses and future physical therapy are a great concern to him.

David has given much enjoyment to the La Paz community with yearly productions, turning novices into would-be actors and delighting audiences who appreciate the arts.

We appeal to all generous, compassionate folks - please help David in his recovery.
