Hi my name is Tiyana and I am 18 years old. I have been successful in securing a place at my first choice of Drama School and am asking for your support in helping me to be able to afford the fees. All I have ever wanted to do is acting, it is truly my passion and my dream.
The overall cost of this course I wish to take is £15,000. I have already applied for all the bursaries to which I am entitled, and have been successful, but these do not even cover one quarter of the cost. I will fund as much of my living costs as I can through part time work around my studies but even factoring this in will be left with a shortfall of around £7,000+
When I was 12, I unfortunately and unexpectedly lost my mum and have since lived with my dad. In December of 2025, My dad also unexpectedly passed away for reasons I would like to keep private at this time.
It is a great honour to have been offered this place and I am determined to take it up, not only because it is my dream, but as a mixed race young woman with a registered disability from a low income background I want to do all I can to broaden the representation of actors working in British drama. My mother died unexpectedly when I was 12 and after a period in fostering I went to live with my father who died when I was 17. I now live with my brother and his young family. I am not telling you this for sympathy, rather to make clear that I hope this could be an opportunity for me to turn some of the adversities I have faced into opportunities to approach characters and stories with great empathy and insight. I also need to make clear that it is simply out of the question that anyone in my family will be in a position to support me with this and this is why I am asking for your help.
I promise this money would only go to funding my education, and I promise that I will not take this opportunity for granted, I will try and use my knowledge to help others.
