Thank you for taking the time to check out my fund raising page! My name is Robert Leatherwood, I'm twenty-seven years old and I would be especially greatful if you could help me get on my feet.
My story begins in highschool, living with my grandparents. I struggled with ADHD but over those three years I had completed all requirements but Algebra II. My great-grandmother's trust was supporting the family, myself and my education. When she passed away unexpectedly the powergrab that ensued for her estate and remaining funds left me stranded. Leaving me with my uncle grandmother who promptly informed me I would have to find someplace else to live as they couldn't support a highschooler.
From that period forward, between distant family and friends online I found myself moving every few months, unable to hold down a job or complete my GED. For a long time it felt like I wasn't in control with my life. Looking back I realize opportunities may have passed me by. Today I live in Oxnard, California. The state has been gracious enough to help me with shelter and food. Temp agencies provide just enough to cover basic bills.
I'm looking for another opportinity, one that could give me just the boost I need to get off the street and into a good, regularly paying job.
Every cent donated will go to the following:
* Covering the testing fees to get my GED for which I have studied for.
* Getting a scooter for reliable transportation to temp labor jobs.
*** Opening the path in combination with government programs so I could attend college where I'll be able to work towards my long sought-after goal of getting a culinary degree.
I am currently enrolled in food stamps and general assisted living. I've applied for health insurance. I'm sponsored by goodwill who provides interview clothing and coaching for free. Unfortunatly without a GED, job leads have turned up dry or extreemly temporary for the last five months.
