Community Defibrillator Appeal
WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group launch fundraiser to buy defibrillators for the community.
Local charity WF3 Kindness (a working name of Morley & District Lions CIO) and the West Ardsley Action Group are fundraising for a number of defibrillators in the area.
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can be used to give the heart an electric shock when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest.
Every minute that goes by without using a defibrillator reduces the chances of survival by ten per cent, however using a defibrillator within three minutes of a cardiac arrest can improve a person’s chances of survival by as much as 70 per cent.
There was a community effort in 2017/2018 to purchase a defibrillator which is located outside The Hare & Hounds on Batley Road, West Ardsley. When a person is in cardiac arrest and in need of a defibrillator time is critical and even the short journey from one side of the village to the other could make all the difference.
We are fundraising to purchase THREE defibrillators to be located outside The British Oak, Westerton Road; The New Scarborough, Dewsbury Road and East & West Ardsley Social Club, Bradford Road. The defibrillators will be stored in a secure cabinet which are available to anyone that needs it and is accessed through a code provided by the emergency services.
Please support our campaign and make a donation, these defibrillators are there for everyone in the area and can be the difference of life and death.
Please help if you can!
