On September 1st, 2015, as I was being sent home to rest and relax from Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan...another fight was just beginning.
Evan James Long was born to Carrie and Steve, two local school teachers who dedicate their time to making the lives of other people's children better.
Evan, meaning "God is Gracious" and "Young Warrior", came into this world at just 15 OUNCES, one of the smallest babies in the world.  In typical Long fashion, he immediately showed us the meaning of strength, courage, and independence.
As I celebrate my own health and that of my friends and family, my thoughts turn to this family who is sure to have a fight ahead with hospital visits, medical bills, long days, and sleepless nights (for reference, just one night in the NICU can average $5,000 - our minimum goal).

This fund is set up to assist Carrie and Steve Long, along with their sons Matthew, Ryan, and little fighter Evan.
