My name is Melody Calderon and I am 14 years old. I am currently in year 8 at Dominic College. I have been playing football since I was 12, and started playing futsal just last year.
This year I was lucky enough to represent Tasmania at the National Futsal Championships, where I was then selected to play in the Australian U15 girls futsal team. This team will tour Greece in October and play development games, and undergo specialised trainings and workshops.
Representing Australia has been a dream that I shared with one of my biggest supporters, my uncle Elmer Cano, since I can remember. My uncle was involved in the football/ futsal community for over 20 years playing for clubs like Glenorchy Knights and Olympia. He sparked my love for all things football. Last year on October 9th, my uncle suddenly passed away doing what he loved, playing futsal. Being a daughter of a single mother, my uncle was like a father figure and I always looked to him for any advice, coaching, or support.
Now I hope I can fulfil my dream, and his, of representing Australia in an experience of a lifetime.
