We’ve got your six

Hi everyone! My name is Caroline and I am Madison’s Niece. Where do I start? These past few years have been a challenge for our family and we again have hit a bump in the road. Madison started to feel ill last Saturday and things progressed quickly. We thought it was “just” the flu but that was sadly not the case. He is a diabetic and was going into diabetic ketoacidosis and blood sugars were at a very high level. He also had an infection spiraling in his body, and they found that it was caused from Strep A bacteria which he likely picked up on one of his many school visits as a police officer. His body was already under a lot of stress and went into septic shock. He then went into cardiac arrest and had to be intubated shortly after getting roomed in the ICU. The team at Mercy are working very hard to stabilize him.

To know Madison is to love him. He has been a police officer for 30 + years. He is a husband to Jill. He is a father to Melissa (and Jeff), Eric (and Emily), Joel and Andi. He is a grandfather to Ellie, Charlottte, Vivienne, Vera, Poppy and Miller. He is a son to Bea and Jeff. He is a brother to Linda and Krissie. He is an uncle to Raffaele, Jeff, Anthony and Caroline. He is a great uncle to Jack, Henry, Josephine, Penelope and Avery. He is a friend to so many. He is the source of laughter at every family function, a light in very dark times, and serves and loves his community every single day.

Madison has a very long road to recovery and we want to help take the financial stress off of them as much as possible. Madison remains in the ICU and will likely be there for a while. We do not know the extent of his injuries from all

of the complications but as soon as we do updates will be given.
