My partner and I are working toward building a life together in the UK, but right now we’re facing one of the biggest financial challenges of our journey. We’ve been living apart, haven’t seen each other for over 2 years now and doing our best to make ends meet, often surviving paycheck to paycheck and starting over more than once.
April, my grandfather passed away the same day my father passed 4 years prior, a few weeks later my uncle passed, now 6 months later, my mom passed 8 days before her 54th birthday. I’ve really been going through it and even advice is appreciated, I don’t have siblings and I don’t have anyone near me for support.
Our dream is to finally be together under one roof, but between flights, rents, bills, and essential school costs for him, we’re struggling to make it happen. We’ve sold almost everything we have now, and I’m in a tough situation right now, driving an hour 1 way for a minimum wage job while trying to find a different place to move in to.
We’re not looking for luxuries, just the basics to start fresh: a small place to live, enough to keep the lights on, and hopefully a cheap, reliable car to help us get on our feet but the car isn’t necessary, well thankfully have access to walk or take transport.
I currently need a “new” car because mine has too many issues but, hopefully it’ll last me a few months at least!
Every contribution, no matter how small, would help us move one step closer to finally living together and starting this new chapter.
We’ve poured everything we have into this dream, and with a little help, we can make it a reality.
Right now, we’re standing at the edge of it—and we just need a little help to cross over.
