"We, the Collective" is an independently-produced documentary film. Centered on the role that the nightlife economy has played in creating social and economic mobility for black and brown queer, non-binary, and trans individuals in New York City, the film highlights specific art collectives and individuals who are leading that charge.
As the Black Lives Matter movement and COVID-19 changed the national conversation in 2020, “We, the Collective” sparks a much-needed conversation about the layered nature of affirmation, access, and liberation within the LGBTQ+ community.
As is true with a lot of artistic endeavors, this film is a labor of love. It is only possible through the sincere commitment from film subjects and talent of our production crew members.
