My name is Gabriel Manteufel and I swim competitively for the Sandpipers of Nevada swim team. I have been swimming for the Sandpipers of Nevada for the past 4 years. In that time I have swam in numerous swim meets throughout the years, not only in Nevada, but also in California. Swimming is my passion and it is my goal to represent the United States in the Olympics one day.
I have qualified and competed in the Nevada State Swimming Championships for the past 3 years. I have also qualified and competed in the Central California Junior Olympic Championships (LC) in 2016 and 2017 and the Southern California Junior Olympic Championships (SC) in 2018. Most recently, I competed in the 2018 June Age Group Championships in Ventura, California. Although the competition was fierce, I did exceptionally well and dropped time in every event! In the course of the 3 days of the competition, I finished with one - 1st place medal, four - 4th place medals, and one - 7th place medal! I then competed in a 1000 meter open water competition at Castaic Lake, California where I finished in 2nd place out of approximately 25 swimmers in my age group! On July 25th - July 29th, 2018, I will be competing in the Southern California Junior Olympic Championships (LC) in Riverside, California.
As a result of all the hard work, focus, and determination, I have been selected as a member of the Southern California Swimming All-Star team in the Western Zone Age Group Championships in Roseville, California on August 8th - August 11, 2018. This swim meet will feature the top swimmers from the 11 states west of the Rockies!
I am grateful for the opportunity to not only represent the Sandpipers of Nevada in this meet, while also honored to represent the Southern California Swimming All-Star team. None of this would be possible if it weren't for the tireless hours that all of my coaches have put into helping me become the swimmer that I am today!
My Mom and I will be flying to Sacramento, renting a car, and staying in a hotel during the course of the competition. Your donations will help offset the cost of my travel expenses and accommodations for the duration of the swim meet. This will be the fourth travel meet in one summer and any help you could provide would assist me in fulfilling my dreams!
