Westend Dental's Mission Trip

In an effort to go beyond helping our local community, Westend Dental would like to announce our participation in a Mission Trip for November 2017!
We've joined up with World Mission Partners , who will be sending to La Romana in the Dominican Republic. We will be visiting the communities around La Romana that house the sugar cane work camps, commonly referred to as a Batey.
These Bateyes are actually "towns" formed by the sugar cane companies, composed of barracks and a few houses where the workers and their families live. There are around 400 Bateyes loacted in the D.R., with sizes ranging anywhere from 150 to over 2000 people.
Every year, more migrants arrive from Haiti to work the sugar cane harvest, usually working long hours for around $5 per day. Due to the travel costs associated with returning home, most of these workers cannot afford to return home and must stay in the Bateyes till the next harvest. The lodges where the workers live are considered outside of the country's governance system, which generally means that basic quality of life services aren't provided to the workers.
With factors like these, the lack of competitiveness for the Domincan sugar cane market and lack of educational and health services, Bateyes are considered the some of the poorest communities in the county.
From November 12th-18th, seven of our Westend Dental team members will be working with to bring much needed dental care to these communities! But we need your help!
All donations will go towards purchasing additional supplies to help us deliver top quality dental care! We hope that you can help us make a difference to a community that needs some support.
