Hi, my name is Ellis, and I was recently selected to go on a once-in-a-lifetime scouting trip to Canada in summer 2027. I'm part of the 20th Batley Scout Troop and one of only 36 scouts in West Yorkshire and 3 people from the Heavy Woollen District that have been picked to go on this trip.

Here's a bit more about me! I love to play cricket and the guitar. I also really enjoy scouts because it has given me to so many amazing experiences, including the opportunity to go sailing. I have been learning to sail boats at a reservoir up on Saddleworth Moor since September 2025 thanks to a water activities day my scout troop had in October 2024. I have been able to go back there on Saturdays to sail dinghies on my own or with a couple others! I've met some amazing people and developed a real sense of adventure, I especially can't wait to go canoeing in the Canadian National Park!

But now comes the hard part - I need to raise around £3400 over the next 18 months to pay for travel and all the kit I need for the trip. I have lots of ideas including cake sales, supermarket bag packing, selling some old stuff on ebay, hiking and possibly something a bit special on Yorkshire Day, so please watch this space!
