Walking 96 Miles for the Pink Ribbon Foundation

Donation protected
I’ll be walking the West Highland Way with my Gran, Irene Wilson, a 96 mile walk from just outside Glasgow to Fort William. It’ll take us around 6 Days to complete starting on 30th April 2025.

‼️Beaverbrooks the Jewellers will kindly be matching the amount we raise so each donation will have twice the impact‼️

The money we raise will be donated to The Pink Ribbon Foundation. A grant-making trust, meaning the funds raised each year are pooled together and distributed among various charities. Specifically, these charities address the needs of individuals who are suffering from or have been affected by breast cancer.

Additionally, grants are awarded to organisations that work to enhance the understanding of breast cancer and further research its early detection and treatment. The Pink Ribbon primarily provides grants to smaller charities, which often operate locally and are well-positioned to build relationships within the community, reaching those who are often the hardest to engage. This makes them just as vital as larger charities.

On average, there are 56,822 cases of breast cancer diagnosed each year, and it's important to note that men are not exempt from this illness - a common misconception, as 400 men contribute to that yearly statistic.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation has awarded grants to over 300 charities, which support various aspects of rehabilitation and assistance for breast cancer patients. These grants facilitate essential services such as counselling for patients and their families, providing specialist equipment like cooling caps for chemotherapy, and funding additional nursing staff to care for breast cancer patients.

They also focus on lymphedema care and physical therapy, offering unique programs like fly fishing retreats for women undergoing treatment, which help improve mobility in their upper bodies. Furthermore, the foundation supports charities that run workshops on the effects of cancer treatment regarding physical appearance. These workshops provide practical advice on makeup application and enhancing features like eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and hair, helping individuals feel more confident during their cancer journey.

These are just a few examples of the significant impact that grants from The Pink Ribbon Foundation can have, allowing your donations to support multiple charities.
