At Iowa City West High School, Speech and Debate gives students the tools to discover their voice, sharpen their minds, and engage with the world around them. In classrooms and at tournaments, our students learn how to think critically, communicate clearly, and disagree in respectful ways that move conversations forward.
These lessons go far beyond competition. They prepare young people to become leaders, voters, and community members who can meet challenges with courage, empathy, and conviction—all skills our country needs.
Our team works hard to represent Iowa City West on the state and national stage, but the costs of travel, tournament fees, and resources are significant.
