Each year in June, as the school year grinds to an end, our students begin to go through yet another change or transition in their busy lives. Exam week looms and graduation is around the corner for our Seniors going off to college or the workplace. The stress mounts. Who wouldn’t need time to relax and celebrate a positive end to the school year?
Last school year, a core group of representatives from various stakeholder groups in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda community engaged in a year-long planning process to look back at where we’ve been, envision where we want to be, and examine our strengths as well as areas of need as a school district. As a result of their efforts, we now have a renewed vision, mission, and values guiding our everyday work. One of the core areas identified was social-emotional wellness of students and staff. What better way to improve mood, develop a sense of community, and form relationships and lasting memories than to throw a party!
On June 14, 2019, Kenmore West’s Join the Winners’ Club (run by Mr. Charlie Panepinto) presents WestFest 2019: A field day consisting of class competitions, teacher and student events, music, and a school-wide cookout.
The organizers of WestFest are hoping you’ll consider helping us raise the funds needed to pull this event off for our 1500+ students and staff. We are hoping to provide food and beverage for our student body and staff - hot dogs and hamburgers, rolls, soda, water, snacks, etc. We love our school lunches, but we want to make this a truly unique and special event for our students - and food for that size of a group can be costly. We’re hoping parents, grandparents, alumni, and other members of the Ken-Ton community might be able to help us support this event with a donation towards our food costs - we’re aiming for just under $5 per student... Any additional money raised would help fund equipment and supplies for field day activities. Even the smallest amount will help! In the past, events like this would be held after school and students would have to pay to participate. It is the goal of our organization to be all inclusive and provide a memorable field day for everyone.
