IN AID OF BLOOD CANCER UK & THE GINA FARASCIANO COMMUNITY THEATRE FUND. (Please specify which charity you favour. Unspecified donations will be split equally between both charities). Background story: this fundraising page has been set up in memory of 2 very special people I initially set myself the goal of 'travelling' at least 195 miles on my exercise bike during August - equivalent to the distance between my home in Torquay and the West End. Having achieved that target I then set myself another goal: cycling a further 400 miles from the West End of London to the West End of Edinburgh. My pedal power is fuelled & inspired by watching a different musical every day. (And as a lifelong theatre-lover this is the next best thing to seeing all the live shows I've been missing!) With your generous sponsorship I hope to raise money for 2 wonderful causes focused on cancer research and grass-roots theatre... 3 months ago I lost a very special friend to cancer- Gina. Gina & I first met 13 years ago at a Broadway show. We bonded straight away over our shared love of theatre and we also discovered we had both lost close relatives to leukaemia. It was 21 years ago this August that my beautiful sister Sue died, just 8 days after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. In the years since I have raised over £12k for Blood Cancer UK by auctioning mainly theatre-related autographs & photographs via my website www.forget-me-not-project.co.uk. I will be holding another auction in September 2020 but in the meantime I wanted to help the charity further and also to raise money for a special fund which has been set up in Gina's memory. Gina was a keen supporter of and participant in theatrical productions in her local community of Port Washington, appearing in numerous musicals. Very fittingly a local organisation, HeartsPW, has established The Gina Farasciano Community Theater Fund to further support grass-roots theatre in Gina's honour. Please help me to support these two wonderful causes by sponsoring me as I cycle for at least 90 minutes/15 miles a day in my living room. Your sponsorship will also spur me on as I strive to complete a weight loss journey which began 5 stone and 7 months ago... Above all I want to do everything I can to honour the lives of two very special women. Sue & Gina were loved and are missed by so many people, but their legacy can live on with your help. Thank you , Fiona Beaumont 31st July 2020.
