Wes’s Brain Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend. My dad is an amazing man who’s heart runs deep and so does his humor ;)
On Feb 6 Wes was rushed to the hospital due to a seizure, testing revealed the cause to be a tumor in the temporal lobe. After further testing and a neurosurgical consult, we are looking at a grade 4 Glioblastoma, one of the deadliest and aggressive forms of brain cancer with a median survival of 14-16 months. Without treatment we were given 5-6 weeks. On Thursday Feb 17 he underwent a craniotomy to resect as much of the tumor as possible at a facility that offers a special florescent dye that “lit up” the tumor cells making it easier for the surgeon to remove as much tissue as possible. After a 3 week recovery he will start chemo and radiation therapy everyday for about 6 weeks and then continue chemo for another 6 to 12 months. In addition to the surgery, chemo, and radiation he will have continued MRI scans to monitor re-growth. Our family is going to fight and do all the things we can to keep my dad around to watch his 4 grandchildren grow and take the trip to Alaska he and my mom have been planning since Covid. My dad has a fire to thrive for years to come, thankfully he is healthy, young, and active, plus the tumor is on his non-dominate side, all of which works in our favor here!
We believe in the power of prayer, science, holistic health and community. Any prayers, notes of positivity and hope, are so welcomed! If you feel called to help support our family with the financial burdens of fighting for dad’s life, you may donate here. Please know how incredibly appreciated your help and prayers are.
