Wesley had been been having sore throat issues for a couple months, and his doctor recommended a tonsillectomy. In late March of this year, Wesley planned for a two week recovery and time off work after the procedure.
During what should have been routine surgery, a mass was discovered and sent for a biopsy. On April 1st, it came back with a diagnosis of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. While it is an aggressive form of cancer, it is also very treatable with much success. At this point it is only in the neck and has not spread throughout the body.
Since his diagnosis, Wes has missed a lot of work for many tests to find out the severity of the illness and for a port procedure. Working with the oncologist, they decided on a plan of six sessions of chemotherapy, spaced three weeks apart. This will take him into October. He must take off (at minimum) the first week of every session until his white blood cell counts come up where he can go back to work (if he's able). Anything from a cold to a paper cut would be catastrophic during that week and he must avoid people while his immune system is compromised.
What does this all mean? This all means that Wesley is going miss a lot of work with no pay. Wesley is a great guy who helped us out last year when my daughter needed surgery and is always ready for every good work. Everyone will testify of his laughing, lighthearted spirit, kind heart, and gentle nature. He is always ready to help, lending counsel, and cheering everyone up. (Also, he makes the best lattes!)
Now we want to return the favor and set up this fund to help offset his living and out-of-pocket expenses (after insurance) while he is unable to work or if he gets too sick and can't work at all.
Thank you so much to anyone who feels led to bless Wesley and his wife Bethany during this difficult time.
