Hello, my name is Weslee Aristor. I currently am a 2nd year Graduate Student at the University of Central Florida's Counselor Education Program. Counseling has become such a large passion of mine. I realized counseling was my calling when I had such an intense desire to help others. There are so many individuals secretly going through battles, that need armies to fight, alone. I believe in my ability to help those individuals. Growing up I've always had a character where I felt, almost too much, the emotions of others. Choosing this profession has changed my life by giving my empathetic personality true purpose. I believe in the profession of counseling and its ability positively alter lives. My goal is to be such a prominent, well experienced counselor, ---with such wisdom that I'll help the lives of large populations through my work.
To become this type of counselor, exposure to different populations and experiences are necessary. For that reason, I cannot pass the oppurtunity presented to go to South Africa this summer with University of Central Florida's Counseling Across Cultures study abroad program. This program will be working with women who've fallen victim of sexual and physical abuse, as well as children living with HIV/AIDS.
By going on this trip, I will gain the training needed to work with such a sensitive population, that will further my growth as a counselor. I also will be given the opportunity to partner with South African and Botswanan counseling students by presenting our knowledge of counseling at their Counseling Conference.
As a first-generation college student and full time Graduate student, I must admit that this trip is financially out of my reach. Therefore, I am reaching out to you, my community, to assist me. Any amount provided would not only be an investment to this trip, but to my profession, to my education, and to my future as a counselor.
The funds raised would be used to help pay for my placement in the UCF Counseling Across Cultures study abroad program, as well as for travel expenses.
I welcome the use of the Cash App to avoid charges: $WesleeAristor
