Please Help! My name is BreJeanna Webb and I am the daughter of Bishop Arvell Garrett, age 83 a USMC Veteran and the sister to Jason Garrett and Arvell Garrett Jr, who is disabled with health issues and Down's Syndrome. I was visiting their home in July of this year from Houston, Texas when the massive flooding in St.Louis occurred.
At roughly 3 AM I began to hear loud popping noises beyond the sounds of the storm. I got up to use the bathroom and to see where the noise was coming from, I stepped into swiftly moving water coming up from the basement and swiftly taking over the first floor! Within minutes, the water had reached my knees. My husband rushed back in from outdoors; the water was up to his waist! We are thanking God that none of our lives were lost!
My father and my two brothers are currently staying with loved ones and at a hotel, but everything inside has been destroyed! EVERYTHING! The Family Room, The Dining Room, Bedrooms, The Bathroom, The entire Basement full of a lifetime of memories, our Cars and Kitchen Appliances.
My father, Bishop Arvell Garrett Sr. has lived in this home for over 50 years, but due to the massive flood damage, his beloved home is no longer livable. Along with my father’s vast list of belongings and household items lost, my brother, Jason, a professional musician and barber, has lost ALL of his belongings, such as his keyboards, drum sets, clippers and other barbering equipment. Jason is also the primary caregiver for my father and my younger brother.
The insurance is not covering any damages, and the mounting expenses are overwhelming. (PLEASE SEE THE UPDATE BELOW!) They are in shock and doing their best to process this catastrophe, but they are in dire need of assistance.
Please, if you have anything to give, please donate whatever you can to help them rebuild their lives as they go through this crisis. All funds will go directly to the family to assist them.
UPDATE!!!! GOD IS GOOD!! On 8/5/22 Bishop Garrett was contacted by an adjustor from the insurance company. She stated she had been looking for him since the 1st to let him know he was covered after all! Glory to God!! When she came out to the house said the insurance would cover the basement contents within limits but would cover the upstairs damages and contents. Although there is still a looming housing need and compensation needs, the donation amount was lowered significantly. Thank you for all your help, prayers and support. **To be completely clear, this fundraiser was not created by my father Bishop Arvell Garrett and brothers Jason and Arvell Jr, but is directly for them. All funds will go directly into the beneficiary, Bishop Garrett's account and no one else. The funds collected will go to help him in however he needs it in areas of recovering lost items, restoring his home or even covering his hotel stay because he's still in a hotel as of this date 9/27/22. Thank you all for your generosity.
